I am happy to announce that our dear friend and teacher Mark Whitwell will be visiting and teaching in Christchurch on the 14th and 15th of January 2012.
Mark is the author of two major books, ‘Yoga of Heart, The Healing Power of Intimate Connection‘ and his new book to be published in June, ‘The Promise of Love, Sex and Intimacy’.From the introduction of The Promise:
“We might have super-smart phones, age-defying beauty treatments and a plethora of pills to deal with the chaos of our modern lives, but what we really need is something more potent…
sex, love and intimacy.”
Renowned New Zealand artist Max Gimblett has this to say of Mark’s first book, “Mark Whitwell’s Yoga of Heart opens the door to our own way. His devotion to his teachers, his living commitment to the teachings brings forth our own practice and realization. We all have beautiful hearts. In Mark’s yoga of heart we discover ourselves to be free, loving, inspired and compassionate. I am glad to have Mark as my beloved yoga teacher.”
Mark Whitwell is the founder of the Heart of Yoga Peace Project , The Peace Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to instilling and developing yoga communities in troubled areas around the world, spreading peace through the transformation of individual consciousness, and enabling cross-cultural understanding through one-to-one diplomacy. The project uses yoga as a common, non-religious unifying principle and practice to bring together those affected by struggle and conflict in a neutral location, where their full attention can be applied to basic yogic tenets such as non-violence and tolerance. The Peace Project also provides education and resources to current and aspiring yoga teachers so that they can bring the seeds of change back to their communities and their native lands.
Mark teaches yoga around the world, year round, and is in much demand thoughout America, Europe and Asia.
Come and join us in Christchurch for a wonderful weekend of authentic yoga practice and yoga philosophy.

Mark’s visit to Little River in 2009
So much has happened since then, the land has moved and shaken us all, in ways we never would have imagined
I am grateful to my yoga for being there, for the breath and the movement and the peace, available in the midst of the turmoil, and available now, as we get back on our feet
The support of my friends, of my yoga community, with so much love and care to share, has deeply enriched my life,
Thank you.
